The Story of LSL Slammers VBC

LSL Slammers VBC was formed out of Lake St Louis for female athletes in Middle School and High School in the St Charles County and surrounding areas

LSL Slammers VBC formed in early 2022 is a volleyball club with the hope and passion to build opportunities for more female athletes to be able to continually play volleyball and grow to be more passionate about a sport they love.

We decided to start LSL Slammers VBC after seeing nearly hundreds of great athletes get turned away every season from being able to play at a competitive club level due to not enough coaches, teams, clubs and facilities. LSL Slammers started with a group of girls that simply wanted to stay playing together as a team and were originally put on several different club teams or weren't able to make a club team originally due to not enough space. The summer of 2022 we held our first round of Slammers Summer Sessions and hosted our first round of tryouts at the end of that summer. We ended up with over 40 athletes on 4 teams and thus began the first season of LSL Slammers VBC.

Here at LSL Slammers VBC our hope and our goal is to build lasting teams that will not only develop skills in volleyball but also in friendship, teamwork, dedication, commitment, and passion. Our objective as Club Directors and Coaches is to build girls’ confidence, and help them to know that they really can do whatever they set their mind to and work hard to achieve. Our goal is to give more youth the opportunity to play the sport they love as they grow friendships, skills and character traits that are bound to last a lifetime.

Jamie Allen

I thoroughly enjoyed playing volleyball in school as well as rec and sand volleyball in college and as an adult. As my daughter got older and became interested in the sport I began coaching and coached several years at the YMCA and rec level. I have always enjoyed coaching and teaching young athletes how to master the skills of volleyball and learn to love and enjoy the sport.

I chose to start LSL Slammers VBC when my daughter and her friends aged out of YMCA and began looking into playing club volleyball.

My favorite thing about coaching is watching the girls learn new skills and really grasping how to put everything together as a team. I love watching the thrill on their faces when it finally clicks and they are able to succeed.

In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my husband and kids doing the things we love which includes: swimming, golfing, baseball, tennis, sand volleyball, crafting, boating and fishing to name a few.

I also own and run my own custom and boutique apparel business since 2017 and I thoroughly enjoy dispatching at the Police Department.

Volleyball has always been my favorite sport - to watch and to play! I remember cheering my sister on from the bleachers at a very early age and I couldn't wait to play myself! I started playing in middle school and still play as an adult on various rec and sand leagues. When asked about helping out a brand new volleyball club, I couldn't say no. I have always enjoyed teaching and worked as a tutor for many years, so coaching a team of girls excited and willing to learn was a fun and rewarding challenge!

My favorite thing about coaching is the surprised/proud look on an athlete's face when they try something new or hard or for the millionth time and IT WORKS! That moment when it clicks and all their hard work starts to payoff. I love seeing athletes put their heart into the sport and take pride in themselves. Building confidence, skills and friendships - that's what club volleyball is all about to me.

I also run a digital marketing company that I started in 2017. I have three kids and two cats. I enjoy music, math riddles, baking, being outdoors, spending time with my friends and family, and learning something new every day!
